The Shed: A thriving hub for Chichester’s youth

Chichester Community Development Trust (CCDT) believes in engaging young people by providing spaces for them to connect, learn, and thrive. One of our most lively initiatives is The Shed, a warm and energetic environment committed to assisting our community’s teenagers.

What is our Youth Club?

Our youth activities are focused on providing a secure, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for young people aged 11 to 18. The Shed provides something for everyone, whether you want to relax, learn a new skill, or just hang out with your friends.

Yoof Club (Wednesday)

The Yoof Club is a weekly highlight for youths aged 11 to 18. This colourful club, led by Dr. Walker, aims to provide a space for teens to relax, chat, and have fun. Yoof Club is a popular destination for midweek refreshment, with lively talks and wonderful music.

Youth Kitchen (Tuesdays during Term Time)

Every Tuesday, the Youth Kitchen cooks up a storm. It is a 6-week program that teaches young people aged 11 to 16 how to prepare and cook meals. Beyond the culinary skills, kids may take their dishes home to share with their friends and family, making it a great experience for everybody involved.

After School Activities at The Shed

Collaboration is essential at The Shed. We provide free after-school programs for students aged 11 to 18 through collaborations with local organisations. These events range from creative workshops to sports, allowing teenagers to pursue their interests in a secure and loving setting.

Why are Youth Clubs so important?

Youth clubs, such as those held at The Shed, are crucial to the Chichester community. Creating a Safe Space: Teens require a space where they can unwind and be themselves, especially after school. Encouraging Personal Growth: Programs like Youth Kitchen offer kids life skills that they can apply throughout their lives. Building Friendships: Clubs provide strong social connections, allowing youngsters to build lifelong bonds. Supporting Mental Wellbeing: A positive, inclusive environment can do wonders for mental health, giving teens a sense of belonging and purpose.
