Every Saturday morning, a dedicated group of volunteers meets outside the Pavilion at Havenstoke Park to tidy, trim, and transform the green space we all love. Led by the ever-enthusiastic Susan, the Park Friends have been hard at work throughout February and March, making noticeable improvements across the park.

What’s Been Achieved?

– Hedge trimming: Coral and Scilla took the lead in shaping up the hedges, while Pip, Frances, and Debs joined in, ensuring everything looked neat and tidy.

– Clearing dead plants: Sarah W, Anna C, and Frances worked around the Pavilion, cutting back overgrown areas and improving the area.

– Shrub pruning: Anna tackled the car park area, creating a more accessible space.

– Litter-picking and bramble removal: Scilla, Anna, Frances, and Pip rolled up their sleeves to clear brambles and remove litter, making the park more inviting for everyone.

– Building log piles for wildlife: Logs have been set aside for Gav to trim, which will be used to create a natural habitat for insects and small creatures in the area where the Wild Space was.

– Removing dead bushes and box hedges: Pip and Anna took on this task, opening up space for new growth and a fresher look along Connelly Way.

We Need Your Help!

While the team has been making great progress, Havenstoke Park is a large area, and we need more volunteers to ensure we make a difference! Whether you can spare just one Saturday or want to join regularly, Susan would love to welcome you to this group.

The Park Friends meet every Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon outside the Pavilion. Just turn up, or for more info, contact Susan. We’re especially looking for extra muscle for digging projects – so if you enjoy a good workout with a rewarding result, this is for you!
