Title: Operations Director
Accountable to: CEO and Trustee Board
Support Staff: Community development team, Volunteers.
Role: 25 hours per week, Permanent contract subject to funding
Chichester Community Development Trust is a rapidly growing charity which exists to support community development throughout Chichester and to run a portfolio of exciting community assets and services. We are seeking a Director of Operations to manage the day-to-day delivery of operations, account management, programmes and project management, and to deputise for the Chief Executive as required.
Job description
Purpose: To lead and oversee all commercial and operational aspects of CCDT’s work in line with the Trust’s values, strategy and business objectives, and act as Deputy to the Chief Executive
Responsible to: Chief Executive
Responsible for: Programme Managers, Community Development Team, volunteers
Relationships: Trustees and Trust Board, key licence holders and strategic partners, external auditors.
Strategic and operational roles:
Create and manage budgets, risk reporting and mitigation for the organisation, including annual business planning.
Helping to shape the CCDT offer.
Managing relationships and accounts with new and existing partners – Creating strategies to successfully management key accounts
Managing relationships with new customers, gauging their needs, and developing proposals to address these needs.
Identifying new business opportunities, including new markets, new customers, new partnerships or new products and services
Line management and lead the team managing the day-to-day operational and community development requirements of the organisation and its programmes.
Grow and improve systems and processes across the organisation to ensure a safe container for both staff and volunteers.
Ensuring community and business activities are run to the highest possible standard.
Developing and maintaining high quality and effective operational systems and processes to
deliver effective and efficient services.
Developing and maintaining effective risk management arrangements
Providing and developing management information which communicates progress against strategic, business and financial plans.
Monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees
Principal Duties and responsibilities:
Supporting the Chief Executive in the development and implementation of CCDT’s vision, strategy, and business plans
Identifying new business opportunities, including new markets, new stakeholders and potential new products and services, and working with the Chief Executive and other senior staff to develop these opportunities into fully worked up proposals for discussion with the
Board of Trustees
Deputising for the Chief Executive in their absence
Possessing a strong understanding of the company’s products, the competition in the industry and positioning
To be involved in supervision, staff meetings and learning opportunities as appropriate
Raise the profile of CCDT work to increase participation.
Communications:
Lead, review, manage and communicate on agreed budgets and expenditure efficiently.
To develop and maintain effective relationships with the board of trustees, community, groups, organisations and others.

Person Specification
At least 5 years of experience of working in operational roles
A track record of successful delivery in programmes in the voluntary sector
Able to confidently interact with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
Excellent written and verbal skills
Budget management experience
Able to design and deliver impactful line management and supervision to others.
Skills and personal attributes
Strong and positive management style
Effective self motivation
Positive approach towards work
Interested in the voluntary sector and community business
