Chichester Community Development Trust (CCDT) has secured £7,000 funding from Chichester District Council, to build a fantastic new outdoor pizza oven, and create a covered area for the outdoor seating to ensure it can be enjoyed through almost any weather! Located outside the Pavilion’s newly branded Coffee Spot café, the facilities will be available this autumn. This project is 80% funded by CDC through the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with CCDT providing the remaining 20% of funds.
The funds will enable CCDT to further nurture community groups and create a space where residents and those from across the district can enjoy the beautiful setting of Havenstoke Park, whilst enjoying some freshly cooked pizza and a reviving drink. It will be an accessible and inclusive outdoor space that is ideal for all, arriving by foot, bike or car, with improved bike rack provision included in the investment. In addition to the pizza oven there will be three phase electricity put into the area, enabling a wider range of food vans to provide choice and options for all those visits on scheduled days and evenings.
The covered outdoor seating area will create an attractive environment for outdoor hospitality for cooler evenings, and shade for sunny afternoons, maintaining a modern feel with the style complimenting the existing building. With a greater range of food vans the investment will support local enterprise as well as providing even more choice for those looking for somewhere to enjoy food and drinks.
Comments Clare de Bathe, CEO of CCDT, “We hope this fantastic enhancement to our community space will encourage people to walk and cycle from in and around Chichester to this beautiful spot for day or evening gatherings. With a growing number of residents moving into Graylingwell Park, new surrounding estates such as Lavant Views and the longer standing residents of northeast Chichester this will provide a much needed addition to the hospitality options in the area. We’d encourage everybody to keep an eye on our social media or sign up to our email newsletter for updates on the building of these great new facilities where we will keep everybody informed.”
