Last Sunday saw a flurry of furry friends on Havenstoke Park as we hosted the postponed dog show, traditionally a centre piece of the Summer Garden Party. Due to the intense heat experienced in July this year we had to remove the the dog show from the event as it wasn’t safe for them to be in such high temperatures, so were delighted to host it as a stand-alone event at the weekend.
The event involved two arenas – the first an agility ring where owners could challenge their dogs to triumph round the jumps, tunnels and ramps in record time, hosted by Mad About Dogs. The second ring was the setting for our dog show, hosted by the Social Dog Club, where terriers, retrievers and plenty more battled it out for titles including the Most Fabulous Fella, Loveliest Lady, Best Rescue and Golden Oldie. Whilst competition was fierce all went home happy, with some proudly displaying rosettes, including the stunner pictured above, dressed up as a bee winning the Most Fashionable Dog title!
Whilst dog owners dazzled each other with their pets’ finest talents the team from CCDT enticed the crowds with amazing aromas of freshly barbecued bacon sandwiches and delicious burgers from locally sourced Adsdean butchers, all proceeds from which will be invested into vital community projects delivered at the Pavilion and Graylingwell Park. Meanwhile the children bounced their way through the day on the sea-themed bouncy castle. A true day for all the family.
