Nestled in the heart of Chichester, Keepers Green Cricket Pitch echoes once again with the sound of leather on willow—on the very same site where cricket was once played by patients and staff of the West Sussex County Asylum.
Originally laid out to support the wellbeing of those at the Asylum, the game offered not only physical activity, but also structure, connection, and joy. That same spirit lives on today. With the area now part of a thriving community, the return of cricket every summer is a beautiful link between past and present.
The pitch in its original location, preserving a piece of Chichester’s social history while creating a vibrant space for residents, local clubs, and visitors to enjoy the game.
With growing interest in community wellbeing, fitness, and outdoor activities, this green space is a hub for friendly competition, team spirit, and summer traditions.
