Handmade in Chichester

The Chichester region is rife with talented individuals and organisations but too many remain ‘hidden gems’ that are yet to be discovered by the people of the city and beyond. The Chichester Community District Trust (CCDT) is about to change all that throughout the merry month of March with the launch of their ‘Taster Thursdays’ – an opportunity for everybody to showcase their talent or enjoy a free taster of what others can do.

There will be weekly events that are free for all to attend at Graylingwell’s stunning Water Tower, divided into the following themed evenings:

  • 7th March:  Food and drink – Savour the delicious food and devilishly good drinks produced right here in our region.
  • 14th March:  Handmade in Chichester – Calling all creatives with something they have dreamt of selling – be it photographers, artists, seamstresses, knitters, potters, sculptors and more.  Whatever your gift, sign up to our display of local creative talent and revel in your debut exhibit, or seasoned showing – even if it is just one or two pieces. If there’s nothing you want to share or show, come and marvel at the talents of others.
  • 21st March: Healthy Body – As we look forward to the summer, local experts in health and fitness will be there to provide examples and tasters of some of the wonderful ways to improve the health of our bodies.
  • 28th March: Healthy Mind – Try a taster of the many groups and activities available in Chichester to help melt away the stresses and strains of daily life, offering a bit of ‘me’ time.

“We have so many talented individuals already running activities across our venues.  We also have amazing local food and drink providers who will be offering refreshments for our Chapel’s café following it’s renovations this year.  Knowing all of that we felt inspired to find others who may not yet have been bold enough to take that first step of sharing their gift with the city,” comments Clare de Bathe, Director of CCDT. “At the same time we were struck by the realisation that many people in Chichester may not have had the opportunity to try out some of the wonderful local art, food, drink or activities and this is a perfect opportunity to see what is available.”

Whilst some local experts have already committed to the exciting schedule of events, CCDT are keen to hear from anybody that would like to take part.  The only condition is that you are prepared to offer the people of Chichester an opportunity to see, hear, taste or enjoy your flair for something fantastic that fits into one of the scheduled evenings. Those who’s talents do not fit into any of the categories are still encouraged to get in touch as future events are already being planned.  Potential participants should contact the CCDT by email at  bookings@chichestercdt.org.uk.

Evening entertainments for the four events will take place from 6-9pm, and are open to people of all ages, free of charge. Simply register for your free ticket on the CCDT Events page at www.chichestercdt.org.uk/events/taster-thursdays – book now as spaces will be limited and the evenings are set to be fantastic entertainment.
