When it’s been very hot over a sustained period of time, trees (like people!) can become stressed. This stress may cause them to start to shed branches. This condition has affected some trees in the Chichester area so though it’s a natural response to the heat and dry weather, it can lead to an additional risk if sitting/standing beneath large trees.

Of course we know that shade is a premium and there’s nothing better than perching under the protection of a lovely tree but we wanted to alert you to this possibility and urge you to please avoid situating yourself directly under tree canopies during this ongoing stretch of hot weather. Hopefully this week it will rain and we’ll start to be back to normal temperatures but until then, please consider using nearby shaded areas instead, like the covered portico by The Pavilion.
