Summer Garden Party Regenerates the Spirit of Chichester at Havenstoke Park.

The Summer Garden Party on Havenstoke Park returns this year, on the 16th July, bringing with it a sense of regeneration of both ourselves and our environment – a fun day out for all the family filled with activities, entertainment, and a chance to sample a range of wellbeing activities on offer in and around Chichester. Hosted by Chichester Community Development Trust (CCDT), and featuring as part of the Culture Sparks season, the event is set to help everybody involved feel a little better.

Stall holders will highlight fantastic local businesses and organisations; a children’s play area and bounce park will delight the younger ones; there will be the unmissable dog agility events and dog show for our four-legged friends; and live music from the astonishing talent of Chichester’s young people thanks to Ovation Music. The theme of recycling and regenerating will run throughout the day, with art, music and performance inspiring those involved to embrace ways in which to care for themselves as well as the community around them.

Culture will be used as a tool to inspire, as a touring performance of the play ‘The Adventures of Florence and the Mermaid’s Tears’ will entertain children with two performances of a unique 55-minute musical dealing with plastic pollution and our natural world, further inspiring young people to care for our planet.  CCDT will also highlight and celebrate the participants and winners of a competition soon to be launched amongst Chichester District’s schools to create art or sculpture using recycled materials, to be judged by a panel of local artists, with winning schools receiving financial awards to invest in art supplies and activities.

CCDT is working alongside Everyone Active to create a mind body wellness arena, nestled close to the wellbeing space at The Pavilion, showcasing sports, classes and treatments designed to regenerate our minds and bodies following such a punishing few years, helping people of all ages and experience to sample new ways of caring for themselves. Those involved will include practitioners from the Pavilion, and clubs and teams across Chichester, giving visitors a chance to sample new ideas.

With drinks and fresh food served throughout the day, the Summer Garden Party will run from 10am-6pm, providing local residents and those from further field to find a time and a space to come together and connect, discover local businesses and wellbeing practitioners, laugh and enjoy themselves. Free for all to attend, the Summer Garden Party is designed by the community, for the community and will showcase much of what the city has to offer.
