There’s been good progress at Marchwell Studios throughout August, as our exciting new creative workspace at Graylingwell moves further towards completion.
With the main building envelope now substantially complete, the focus has shifted firmly to the next stages of the project, including mechanical and electrical installations, internal fit-out, groundworks and utility infrastructure.
The electrical installation, which is everything that provides power, lighting and electrical connectivity is now around 50% complete, with second-fix electrical work already underway in some areas. Mechanical installation, which includes heating, ventilation, hot water and associated pipework, is around 30% complete, while insulation is nearing 100% completion. These are important steps that allow more of the building to be closed and internal finishing work to progress.
Outside, groundworks are now approximately 70% complete, including drainage, service trenches, ducting and other infrastructure. Work is also progressing on the incoming utility services, with the project team continuing to coordinate with utility providers and Vistry.
The WC and Communications Outbuilding is now substantially complete, with its cedar timber cladding installed and oiled, completing the principal external finishes.
Building Control inspections are also fully up to date, and there have been no reportable health and safety incidents during the September reporting period.
Looking ahead
The coming weeks will see work continue across several areas, including completing the insulation and lightwells, progressing the mechanical and electrical installations, continuing second-fix works and internal fit-out, and completing the remaining groundworks and utility infrastructure.
There is coordination work, particularly around the machinal installation and for the final foul and storm drainage connections, but the project is continuing to move forward and we’re getting ever closer to seeing these fantastic creative spaces come to life.
