Jess Brown-Fuller MP recently met with Chichester Community Development Trust to discuss their
efforts to secure community access to the sports facilities at the Lavant View and Madgwick Park
developments.
The visit focused on concerns around the developer’s decision to stop engaging with Chichester
Community Development Trust and to rule out community management of the facilities, despite the
Trust’s long-standing interest and proven track record in managing local assets for public benefit.
Jess Brown-Fuller MP discussed the importance of ensuring that new development delivers
meaningful, long-term benefits for local residents, including accessible and sustainably managed
community sports provision.
During the meeting, Chichester Community Development Trust outlined their wider work across the
district, highlighting the positive impact they have had through community-led projects and their
capacity to manage facilities in a way that reflects local needs. Brown-Fuller reaffirmed her support
for community organisations playing a central role in shaping local infrastructure, and agreed to
continue raising concerns where community voices are excluded from decision-making.
Speaking after the visit, Jess Brown-Fuller said:
“It’s vital that facilities built as part of new developments genuinely serve the communities they are
meant for. Chichester Community Development Trust has a strong track record of delivering for local
people, and it’s important that developers engage constructively with trusted community partners
to achieve the best outcomes.”
Jess Brown-Fuller is committed to continuing to engage with Chichester Community Development
Trust to advocate for accountability, and community benefit in local development projects
