A Celebration of Community Dedication and Impact
We are thrilled to share some incredible news—Chichester Community Development Trust (CCDT) has been honoured with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest recognition for volunteer groups across the UK.
On 27 March 2025, this prestigious award was formally presented by Lady Emma Barnard, the Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex, in a special ceremony at Graylingwell Chapel. The event was attended by 60 of CCDT’s dedicated volunteers, whose unwavering commitment to the community has made this achievement possible.
A Testament to the Power of Volunteering
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service recognises the outstanding work of organisations that make a real difference in their communities. At CCDT, we are dedicated to:
Empowering communities through skills development and local projects
Supporting local initiatives that promote inclusivity and well-being
Encouraging sustainability and long-term positive change
From youth engagement programmes and heritage projects to sustainable development and creative initiatives, CCDT has continuously worked to strengthen the Chichester community.

A Moment of Pride for CCDT
Speaking at the ceremony, Clare de Bathe, CEO of CCDT, expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“We are incredibly honoured to receive this award, which is a testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of our volunteers. Their commitment to making a difference is at the heart of everything we do, and we are grateful for their invaluable contributions.”
Lady Emma Barnard also praised CCDT’s impact, highlighting how grassroots organisations play a vital role in building stronger, more connected communities.
A Historic Achievement for Chichester
While other organisations in Chichester have received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in the past, CCDT holds the distinct honour of being the first organisation in Chichester to receive this award from King Charles III. This recognition makes the moment even more special for our charity and all who support it.

Looking Ahead – Join Us in Making a Difference
This award is not just a milestone—it’s a motivation to continue growing, supporting, and enriching the lives of those in our community. If you’d like to get involved, volunteer, or learn more about CCDT’s work, visit www.chichestercdt.org.uk or contact Rayah at community@chichestercdt.org.uk.
Thank you to our incredible volunteers, supporters, and community members who make CCDT what it is today. Here’s to an even brighter future!
