‘BIG REVEAL’ OF CITY’S NEW MONOPOLY BOARD

Chichester ‘Passed GO’ – landing its very own official MONOPOLY board, which is now on shop shelves.

The ‘Big Reveal’ of the board sees Chichester Cathedral just pipped by the Chichester Festival Theatre to the ‘Mayfair’ spot, the top-ranking position in the game. But the Cathedral grabs the second highest ranking spot – Park Lane – with the two showpiece city attractions forming the highest-ranking set.

“We do boards all over the world and we’ve never had a tighter Mayfair race anywhere!” reveals John Keen-Tomlinson from Winning Moves UK.

The board was launched (6th March 2026) – in time for Easter 2026 – and took place at the University of Chichester, which also features prominently on the board.

In all, more than 30 Chichester landmarks and organisations get to appear in the game, including the City Walls, Market Cross, the University of Chichester and Bishop’s Palace Gardens – as well as lots of other city A-List landmarks.

The four train stations from the original classic London MONOPOLY take a twist too. They become a travel set and include the Harbour’s Itchenor Ferry, as well as Chichester train station.

A trio of Chichester based charities also get to Pass GO. They are: Chichester Community Development Trust, which supports community groups via events and projects ; Stonepillow, which “empowers” the homeless ;  and mental health charity Young People’s Shop.

They each get to star on a Community Chest space all on their own.

Other twists in this edition see the Chance and Community Chest cards customised, with one of the bespoke cards rewarding players with MONOPOLY Money after being ‘Elected Mayor of Chichester’.

When it was announced last year that Chichester is getting the full MONOPOLY works, the public was invited to send in suggestions for landmarks and organisations to star in the game.

“We’ve been wonderfully spoilt for choice putting this board together,” adds Mr. Keen-Tomlinson, Partnership Manager at Winning Moves UK. “Thank you to everyone who took the time to send in suggestions.”

The Mayor of Chichester, Councillor Sean McHale says:

“I am very proud that Chichester has been chosen as the latest edition of the iconic Monopoly game, that has now hit the shops.

“Those of us that live here, know all about the many wonderful features of our city.

“It is a compliment to all that contribute to the fabric of Chichester that we have been given this honour.

“It really is a wonderful place to live and work and I am grateful to Monopoly for showcasing our landmarks on the new game.”

In true MONOPOLY style the University of Chichester gets to land a big ‘double’.

That’s because as well as featuring on its very own square in the game – it hosted this morning’s official launch too.

The University gets to land on a green square, which in the original London MONOPOLY board was Regent Street. As MONOPOLY fans the world over know, there are eight different coloured property sets.

Claire Nowell, Events and External Relations Manager at the University of Chichester says: “We’re thrilled that the University of Chichester features on such a prominent square on the new MONOPOLY: Chichester Edition board.

“Getting to host the official launch has been a wonderful moment for our students, staff and wider community – and we’re proud to be part of a game that will be enjoyed by families for years to come.”

The board is themed in sets from tourism to heritage, shopping to sport education to entertainment – and more, all to reflect the vibrancy of the city. “It’s a celebration of everything Chichester,” says John Keen-Tomlinson, from the makers of this unique game, Winning Moves UK.

Winning Moves UK, an official MONOPOLY maker, has produced the brand-new MONOPOLY: Chichester Edition board game, under license from Hasbro, a leading games, IP and toy company.

The MONOPOLY: Chichester Edition is available now at Waterstones – as well as online at winningmoves.co.uk and Amazon.
