Red Brick Pavilion

Priory Park, Chichester, PO19 1NS

Architects visual of Red Brick Pavilion Priory Park

At the heart of the park and the city, a neglected building is preparing for a new future.

The Red Brick Pavilion will be transformed into a repair and sustainability studio with retail space, bringing this underused community asset back into productive use and creating something positive for the wider community. More than just a building, it will become a hub for repair, reuse, learning, creativity and environmental action.

The project combines conservation, restoration, and contemporary design. The historic front façade will be carefully restored to celebrate the building’s character and heritage, while modern upgrades will improve its performance and ensure its long-term future. Unsafe and unsympathetic rear extensions will be removed and replaced with new, larger additions that reflect and extend the original architecture.

Inside, a modern and flexible open-plan space will create opportunities for workshops, repair activities, retail, learning and community engagement. Extensive glazing on the ground floor will connect the pavilion with the surrounding park, creating a welcoming and transparent environment where visitors can see activities taking place and feel encouraged to get involved.

We’re planning to create a building alive with creativity, practical skills and sustainable thinking. A place where broken items are given a new lease of life, where people can learn new skills, discover sustainable products, share knowledge and connect with others who care about reducing waste and making a positive difference.

The upper floor will provide quieter spaces for focused work, meetings and activities, offering a retreat from the more active and social spaces below.

Whether you’re looking to repair something, learn a new skill, discover sustainable alternatives or become part of a growing community of makers and changemakers, the Red Brick Pavilion will be a place to inspire action and connection.
