The Chichester Shed Turns Two This February!

Celebrate with us as The Chichester Shed turns two years old this February! Over the last couple of years, the Shed has grown into a friendly, welcoming place where young people can relax, try new things, make friends and feel supported to be exactly who they are. The Shed is all about creating a space where young people feel safe, included and confident. To celebrate The Shed’s birthday, our delivery partner, The Wellness Mind, is giving our usual weekly sessions a birthday makeover, with cake, creativity, movement and lots of opportunities for young people to get involved.

Wednesday: The Birthday Kitchen

Aprons on! It’s time to bake! Our usual Youth Kitchen session will become The Birthday Kitchen, where young people will work together to create a special birthday dessert for The Shed. From a birthday trifle to sweet treats inspired by our values of community, strength and creativity, this session is all about having fun while learning practical skills. During this and every Youth Kitchen session, young people:

  • Learn cooking and kitchen safety skills
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Work as part of a team
  • Get creative in a relaxed, supportive environment

Thursday: ShedFit – Let’s Celebrate Our Strength

Thursday’s ShedFit session is all about celebrating both physical and mental strength. Young people will take part in a fun and inclusive circuit workout designed for all abilities. Working in pairs, they’ll encourage each other, build confidence and complete challenges together. To mark turning two, we’ll be adding a reflective twist too. Young people will be invited to think about:

  • Two positive things The Shed has given them, or
  • A physical or mental challenge they’ve faced and overcome since attending

Everyone who takes part will receive a Shed Birthday Certificate at the end of the session, proudly declaring: “Found my strength at The Shed.”

Friday: Youth Club Birthday Party

Friday is party time! Our Youth Club sessions will bring everyone together for a relaxed birthday celebration. There’ll be birthday cake (complete with a number 2 candle!), balloons, banners and plenty of smiles. Young people can wear birthday hats, enjoy being together and take part in creative activities like making birthday cards and thank-you cards to show what The Shed means to them. It’s a chance to slow down, have fun and celebrate being part of the Shed community.

DYFY Birthday Celebrations

Our DYFY group of local school students will also be getting involved in the birthday fun.

Supported by The Wellness Mind and working with creative partners Saltwater Creations, young people will explore arts-based activities inspired by the Shed’s second birthday. This includes creating artwork to “Shellibrate” , turning two and sharing what The Shed means to them through creativity. These sessions offer a calm, nurturing space where young people can express themselves, grow in confidence and enjoy being creative in a way that feels comfortable and supported.

Parents tell us they value The Shed because it offers:

  • A safe, supervised and welcoming environment
  • Sessions led by The Wellness Mind, an experienced youth wellbeing organisation
  • Positive, structured activities that support mental and physical wellbeing
  • Opportunities to build confidence, resilience and friendships

As we celebrate two wonderful years of The Chichester Shed, we’d love to welcome new young people and families to join us. If you’re looking for a supportive, fun space where your young person can feel safe, valued and encouraged, The Shed could be just the place.
