Havenstoke Park is a cherished green space for our community, offering a place for relaxation, recreation, and connection with nature. However, with increased foot traffic, changing weather conditions, and ongoing maintenance work, it’s more important than ever to use the park responsibly and help preserve it for everyone to enjoy.
Why Responsible Park Use Matters
Parks provide a vital escape from urban life, supporting physical and mental well-being, biodiversity, and community events. But without care, excessive wear and tear, littering, and improper use can lead to long-term damage. By taking simple actions, we can all contribute to keeping Havenstoke Park a welcoming and well-maintained space.
Small Actions, Big Impact
Here are a few easy ways to help protect our park:
1. Stick to Designated Paths – Walking on established paths helps prevent soil erosion and protects grassy areas, especially during wet weather when the ground is more vulnerable to damage.
2. Clean Up After Pets – If you walk your dog in the park, always clean up after them. This keeps the park safe and pleasant for everyone.
3. Dispose of Litter Properly – Use the bins provided, or if they’re full, take your rubbish home. Leaving litter not only harms the environment but also impacts local wildlife.
4. Be Mindful of Vehicle Access – Certain areas of the park require vehicle access for maintenance work. To reduce long-term damage, we are working with contractors to rotate access routes where possible. Please be patient and avoid using these routes when they are in use.
6. Be Considerate to Other Park Users – Whether you’re exercising, walking your dog, or enjoying a picnic, be mindful of noise levels, shared spaces, and giving others room to enjoy the park.
A Community Effort
CCDT are committed to maintaining Havenstoke Park, supported by Susan and the Park Friends volunteers, who meet every Saturday outside The Pavilion from 10am, but preserving its beauty and function is a shared responsibility. If you notice any issues, such as damaged areas or overflowing bins, please report this via the CCDT app. By working together, we can ensure our park remains a thriving community space for generations to come.
Thank you for playing your part in keeping Havenstoke Park a safe, clean, and enjoyable place for all!
