Park Friends: Helping Our Parks Thrive Together

Have you seen the wonderful photos of what’s been happening in our local parks lately? From planting bulbs and clearing beds to litter picking and creating wildlife-friendly spaces, our Park Friends volunteers have been hard at work making Havenstoke Park an even more beautiful place for everyone to enjoy.

The Park Friends meet every Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon outside the Pavilion.

A Growing Community Effort

Our volunteers have already made a huge difference. Together, they’ve helped:

  • Plant seasonal bulbs and flowers to brighten the park
  • Tidy green spaces and maintain garden beds
  • Create welcoming areas for wildlife and people
  • Keep the park clean and enjoyable for everyone

These activities help ensure Havenstoke Park remains a vibrant, welcoming space for residents and visitors alike! The Park Friends group was created so that residents can take ownership of their local park, meet new people, and help care for a space that means so much to the community.

And it’s not just about the work, it’s also about the people. Group gardening sessions and volunteering mornings are friendly, relaxed, and social, with plenty of time for conversation. Whether you come along regularly or just occasionally, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

Look at What’s Been Happening

Take a look at the photos and social media to see the amazing progress being made. You’ll see volunteers planting, pruning, chatting, laughing and enjoying being outdoors together. Every small action adds up to something bigger.

These moments show what makes Park Friends special: community spirit in action.

Everyone Is Welcome

You don’t need to be an expert gardener or commit lots of time. Park Friends is open to anyone who:

  • Enjoys being outdoors
  • Wants to give something back
  • Is interested in gardening, nature, or conservation
  • Would like to meet new people locally

You can join organised sessions or simply help out when it suits you. Activities range from planting and tidying to helping shape the future of the park itself.
