Marchwell Studios  – Progress Report

Chichester Construct are delighted to share the exciting progress on Phase One of our Marchwell Studios transformation!

The site has now been fully cleared of overgrown vegetation, revealing sections of the Grade II listed building’s beautiful original brickwork. It’s fantastic to see the building’s character starting to shine through once again.

Demolition of weathered and damaged elements is almost complete, making way for the next stage of works. Openings for new windows and doors are well underway, with new structural lintels and supports due to arrive next week for installation.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project is preserving the building’s historic charm. Working closely with our architects and structural engineers, we have been able to preserve key original features dating back to the 1890s. The restrained soldier course brickwork on the eastern and western blocks has been retained, providing both structural integrity and a striking external appearance. These carefully restored details already give the building a renewed sense of presence and character.

In the weeks ahead, attention will turn to rebuilding deteriorated areas, including detailed brick repairs and repointing, which will further enhance the building’s historic character. Step by step, Marchwell Studios is being brought back to life — ready to become a vibrant community space for everyone to enjoy.
