This Girl Can KTroo: an exciting free initiative for girls

It was one of those moments where you think ‘what am I doing?’ Here I was bouncing around the office (imagine a dusty, work site portakabin) on KTroo rebound boots with Angie, our Community Development Officer!

As we bounced around with KTroo’s founder, Kate Batty, a brilliant idea was formed… and we are very excited to announce a new initiative to get girls bouncing, getting fit and having fun, even those who normally don’t think of themselves as being that sporty.

Announcing: This Girl Can KTroo
Girls! Chichester! We are very excited to announce your chance to try something new and discover a sport that you love for FREE! CCDT and Kate Batty, founder of KTroo, have secured funding from Sport England’s Sportivate to make it happen. Sportivate gives young people the chance to discover a sport that they love. The six week course is free to women aged 14-25 years and for all others they are £3 /hour session. It is amazing value and a unique experience.

When will the 6 week course start?
Following on from the Easter taster sessions, there are two chances to get involved. The course will be based at the Community Hall, Roussillon Park, and the sessions will get your heart rate rising and guaranteed to be a lot of fun. As mentioned above, the course is absolutely free if you are a women aged 14-25 years. For everyone else it is a bargain at £3 /hour session.

About Kate Batty, entrepreneur and founder of KTroo
Kate is returning to her roots in Chichester to bring KTroo to the south coast.

Kate got hooked on rebound boots after seeing them in action in Spain. She came back to the UK, finished her studies, and then, with support from The University of East Anglia, established KTroo in Norwich. KTroo was first launched for adults to provide an alternative low impact, fun way of exercising. With 80% less impact on knees, hips and joints, KTroo offers a great alternative to traditional aerobics classes. With so many enthusiastic children wanting to ‘jump’ in on the action, KTroo Kids was born six months later. Bouncing is done to fun chart music and includes great routines as well as games and activities in family sessions. KTroo is a new and exciting way for children to take part in sport, even those who are normally not that keen to work up a sweat or think of themselves as ‘unsporty’.

We’ve met a girl who definitely can!
Her name is Kate Batty and she is the founder of KTroo!

The fantastic moment where we met Kate Batty came about thanks the creative thinking of Chichester District Council. Thank you!
