Helping Hands at the Heart of our Community. Come volunteer for the CCDT!

Discover the benefits of helping others by joining our wonderful team of volunteers. Even if you only have a few hours to spare, it can make a huge difference to our community. Volunteering is a great way of trying something new, gaining skills and experience, meeting people and giving something back. For the majority of roles, you don’t need to have any experience, specialist skills or qualifications. We just appreciate it when people make the effort to give up their time to help.

CCDT are really lucky that we have got some amazing volunteers that support us and their Community, we have had some fantastic volunteer groups in the past including:

The Barista Volunteers – who stepped in and ran the Coffee Cart during lockdown, learning a new skill as they began, and we still have a few onboard. Our original Barista Volunteers worked in draughty doorways of the Pavilion as it was being renovated during lockdown, it was not always the amazing Café’s you see today.

Our Delivery Volunteers – who ensure our published flyers and leaflets go through all of the doors at Roussillon Park, Keepers Green and Graylingwell Park.

Our Community Response Volunteers – who supported their neighbours with prescriptions, food delivery during Covid, you were a lifeline. Some of these volunteers continued to do this for a year.

Our Youth Volunteers – who ensure that the local Youth can access great support, make friends and have a bit of fun.

We have many more amazing individuals who give up their time for their community, there is always something to get involved in whether its volunteering on one of our new projects, helping the Friends of Havenstoke park, welcoming people into the Chapel and encouraging them to get involved, supporting the young families that use our spaces, or being part of our steering groups. There is a role for everyone, some require a regular weekly commitment but some roles are less frequent.

Current weekly roles include volunteering in the Chapel Café, coordinating volunteer groups, running I.T Drop In sessions, helping people discover The Chapel, assisting community food events such as the UK Harvest pop up food hub and Youth volunteering. Whereas, less regular roles include Chapel evening events volunteering, delivering marketing materials volunteering, and Friends of Havenstoke Park volunteering, as well as some Youth events. Find out more about our volunteer roles below.

We would really love some more volunteers to help with our Youth Programmes. The Youth groups are so important to our community through the advice and opportunity that they offer to young people as they begin their futures. These volunteers need to be DBS checked and receive safeguarding training, and so a commitment to being a regular helper would be very helpful.

Furthermore, we are in need of food volunteers to help with the Community Chest, our stocked fridge and shelving that is accessible for everyone. Volunteers would aid us in collecting food from supermarkets, so in this instance a vehicle would be necessary. Our Community Chest is a wonderful project that assists people in times when they may be struggling, especially in the current cost of living crisis. It is a small way to have a large impact on someone’s life.

Volunteer enquiries can come verbally, via our website form or via an email to info@chichestercdt.org.uk. The enquirer will then be informed regarding what roles we have available, if any suit them the next stage is to meet and discuss their skills and the role in more details, once all parties are happy we proceed to the application process.

CCDT Volunteers are at the heart of all of CCDT’s work, they are valued and vital.
