On Wednesday the 22nd of November the Youth Ambassadors launched their new initiative Board in the City, together with Emma, our Youth Projects Manager.
The free games club is available for residents at any age living in Graylingwell or Roussillon Park – we have games to suit everyone. This is a great chance to spend time with family, friends, neighbours, exercise the brain and somewhere to go on a cold winters evening.
Have you ever played TSURO? – A beautifully simple game of laying a tile before your own token to continue its path on each turn. The goal is to keep your token on the board longer than anyone else’s, but as the board fills up this becomes harder because there are fewer empty spaces left… and another player’s tile may also extend your own path in a direction you’d rather not go. Easy to introduce to new players, Tsuro lasts a mere 15 minutes and actually does work for any number from 2 to 8.
The game has an Asian spiritual theme – the lines representing the “many roads that lead to divine wisdom”, and the game as a whole representing “the classic quest for enlightenment”.
Other types of games we will be playing are Chess, Scrabble, Stone Age game (age 4+), Star wars loopin louie, Who finds it first, Shut the box, Dobble, Uno and many more. Perhaps you have a favourite board game at home that you’d like to bring along and introduce to others?
Next date for the Board Games Club is Wednesday 6th December 4.30-8.30pm and dates after that are Wednesday 10th January, Wednesday 24th January and Wednesday 7th February.
We open up the doors at the Lodge between 4.30 and 8.30pm, so feel free to pop by at any time.
We look forward to seeing you there!
