Remembrance Day at Graylingwell Chapel

To mark Remembrance Day, Graylingwell Chapel currently has a special display in one of the entrance display units, which will remain in place until Tuesday 12 November 2025.

The display features wreaths created by former patients of Graylingwell Hospital, with all items kindly donated by Des Wilson, a former staff member at the hospital. This thoughtful collection serves as a poignant reminder of the community’s connection to the Chapel’s history and those who served.

While you’re visiting, take a moment to admire the stained glass memorial windows in the Chapel. The window above the entrance on the west end commemorates the hospital’s time as a war hospital during the First World War, while the window on the south side honours the members of staff who fought and died during the conflict.

If you’d like to learn more about the Chapel’s fascinating past, pick up a free leaflet — “Wander and Wonder: A Short Self-Guided Tour of Graylingwell Chapel” — or come along on a Tuesday morning from 10am to 12noon to meet our amazing Heritage Hosts, who will be happy to share more stories about the building and its remarkable history.
