Heritage at Graylingwell Chapel

Welcome to the Heritage team’s first blog.  We are all volunteers with an interest in local history and particularly the history of Graylingwell Chapel and Hospital.  We believe that it is important to preserve the Chapel building as a heritage hub for the benefit of the whole community.

The heritage of the Chapel is very important.  We are tasked with looking after the exhibits and archive material which are on permanent display.  The Chapel is open seven days a week from 9-4.  We are keen to raise awareness and encourage as many people as possible to discover the history of the Chapel and Graylingwell Hospital.  Our motto is “Wander and Wonder”, and we encourage you to come and do so.  Occasionally, we give talks on different aspects of the Hospital’s history, including a fascinating DVD commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Hospital in 1997.  Please keep an eye on the Chapel website for future events.

The Heritage Team, John, Jo and Coral, are in the Chapel every Tuesday morning from 10-12 noon, and we would be very happy to share our knowledge with you.
