Havenstoke Park Update

Please find below some recent updates from Havenstoke Park:

– Mowing Schedule: The mowing schedules were set in the original planning permission granted by Chichester District Council in 2009. The agreement requires two football pitches and a mix of close-cut grass and meadowland. The park’s unique mix of meadowland and mown areas offers diverse experiences. The close-mown area near The Pavilion and play area is perfect for children’s play and picnics under shady trees. Meadow areas are mown twice a year to manage growth, with the next cut scheduled for August. This is to promote re-seeding and biodiversity.

– Football Pitches: The newly created football pitches are fenced off temporarily to allow the grass to establish. Temporary chestnut fencing will be installed, height will be decided by the developers.

– Path Widening: In response, to requests from park users, the contractor has widened the mown paths this week.

– Alternative Parks: We are lucky to have alternative parks, Keepers Green, Rouisillon Park and Oaklands so close to Havenstoke Park, for those that prefer close mown areas.

– Lime Trees: The magnificent 100-year-old Lime trees around the park do produce sticky pollen, which can be inconvenient during dry spells. However, removing the pollen isn’t feasible as it will return as quickly as it’s cleared.

– Recent Incident: There was a small fire at The Wild Space last night, which was quickly dealt with by the Fire Brigade and Police. Following this, the local Police Community Support Officers, have committed to increased patrols around the area to prevent future incidents.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to manage Havenstoke Park according to the agreed plans.
