The Water Tower – iconic and towering majestically over Graylingwell Park– is being extended and developed to contain a new office space. This space will be owned, managed and safe-guarded by Chichester Community Development Trust.
The new office will be the permanent residence for CCDT (we are currently in temporary containers near the Water Tower) as well as a voluntary sector hub.
This is a fantastic opportunity for small charities, voluntary sector groups, home workers, budding charity start-ups that can’t afford an office. There will be hot desks as well as a cosy one to one space that can be hired during the weekends and evenings.
We are working in partnership with Chichester City Council and have been awarded a £20k grant to develop the space into the voluntary sector hub from Chichester District Council’s New Homes Bonus grant scheme. We are thrilled to be working with Chichester District Council to get this exciting project off the ground. We have also received a grant of £6K from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All to purchase furniture and upgrade our ICT equipment.
The footprint of the office is small (the Water Tower is the energy centre for the Graylingwell development) and therefore we are planning a mezzanine and thinking along the lines of clever space-saving design. It will be small but perfectly formed.
Despite delays in finalising the lease and planning, we hope to have the hub up and running in early 2017. We really look forward to welcoming you especially if you wish share ideas for strengthening the area economically, socially or otherwise. We also look forward to sharing our space with local charities and entrepreneurs.
